The basics

What does fridgely actually do?
fridgely keeps a running inventory of your fridge. You snap a shelf, the app reads what's there and remembers where you put it. It tracks how long things have been there and tells you when something's getting close to turning, with one or two ways to use it. It catches duplicates before you buy them at the store. It suggests recipes from what's already in your fridge, not what you'd need to buy. And every month, if you want, it shows you a quiet summary of what happened.
Who is fridgely for?
People who keep buying cilantro they already have. People whose brains don't always line up with the systems they're expected to live inside. ADHD folks, food-insecure-childhood folks, busy parents, tired adults, anyone who's tried productivity apps and revolted. If you've ever opened the fridge, forgotten everything inside it, and ordered takeout instead, this app is for you.
Getting started
Getting started
How long does setup take?
About two minutes. Snap a shelf, confirm what fridgely sees, you're done. Add other shelves as you remember them. There's no "complete your inventory" pressure.
Do I have to snap every item one by one?
No. fridgely reads an entire shelf at once. You can also add items manually, scan a barcode, or just ignore items you don't care to track. There's no "fill in the gaps" red dot anywhere in the app.
What if it gets something wrong?
Tap to correct. The app learns. Over time it gets better at your specific fridge, your specific brands, and your specific way of storing things.

How does the snap feature work?
Open the camera in fridgely, aim at a shelf, tap. On-device vision recognizes items and adds them to your inventory. Works on most common groceries, gets better as you correct it.
How accurate are the expiration estimates?
Pretty good for common items, with one caveat: we err toward "let's use it" rather than "throw it out." Most food lasts longer than its printed date suggests. fridgely tracks when things entered your fridge and applies typical freshness windows, not packaging dates.
What about items without packaging, like loose produce?
fridgely identifies most loose produce by appearance. Apples, lemons, cilantro, all good. For weirder items (heirloom tomato varieties, foraged mushrooms), you can label manually.
Can I add my freezer and pantry too?
Yes. Different storage zones live as separate tabs, so the freezer doesn't get mixed up with the fridge, and the pantry doesn't surface "about to turn" alerts (since most pantry items don't turn the same way).
Can I share with my partner or roommate?
Yes. Shared fridges are on the plus plan. Both people see the same inventory and shopping list. Both get the alerts. fridgely is pretty good at not generating duplicate notifications when you're both standing in the kitchen.

Does fridgely have streaks?
Not by default. If they help you stay engaged, you can turn them on in settings. If they don't, you'll never see one. The choice is yours, and you can change it any time.
Can I customize how much it talks to me?
Yes. Three preset modes (minimal, balanced, loud), plus full control over individual settings: reminders, celebrations, metrics, weekly digest, monthly recap, daily check-ins. If you'd forget the app exists without nudges, turn nudges up. If you want silence, turn them off. Your settings stay yours.
Will it shame me if I stop using it for a while?
No. After thirty quiet days fridgely sends one email asking if you're still around. If you don't reply, we leave you alone. No streak alerts. No "we miss you" emails. No frowny faces. We mean it.
What if I have ADHD or another cognitive condition?
fridgely was built by someone with severe ADHD who needed a tool that worked with their brain instead of against it. You can turn reminders up if you'd forget the app exists otherwise, or down if you want silence. You can choose what counts as a win, even if it's something a neurotypical person might find small. The settings are yours. There's no "right" way to use it.
Privacy

Is fridgely private?
Yes. Your fridge contents stay on your device unless you choose to back them up. We don't sell your data, advertise inside the app, or share anything with anyone.
Where is my data stored?
By default, on your device. If you turn on cloud backup (off by default), it's stored encrypted on our servers, accessible only by you, never by us. We can't read your fridge.
Can I export or delete everything?
Yes to both. Export is in the settings menu, comes out as JSON or CSV. Delete is also in settings, one tap, no "are you sure" five times, no exit survey. Account gone, data gone, done.

How much does it cost?
Free for one fridge with the core features. Plus is six dollars a month and adds the Sunday Audit, monthly recap, multiple fridges, and the duplicate-detection shopping list.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Settings, tap cancel, done. No exit survey, no "wait, here's 50% off" pop-up. Your free tier stays active.
